Roshan gets lots of ripe strawberries to chew on at the gardens.
It’s strawberry season at the community gardens and that means lots of juicy, ripe strawberries to conserve and chew on while you’re at the task of picking them. I love strawberries - they’re sweet and succulent and you can eat as many you like . I was thrilled therefore that this week’s task was strawberry picking - litter-picking a salad bed awashed with strawberries and picking out the reddest and ripiest.
I had been drinking the night before and so was still feeling a bit depressed and hungover. There’s always this feeling that my life has no purpose and that it’s not leading anywhere despite my journalistic ambitions and a plan to join an NCTJ course that might have me commuting to London.
The weather was wet as it often is at the Gardens and cold too. But that’s ok. It’s been scorching hot recently. The weather isn’t necessarily good for my mental health, which has been bad lately, but there’s not much you can do about that. I was just glad we weren’t doing bloody weeding!
The day was up and a few photos needed to be taken. I had a look on Facebook later and realised how slim and handsome I look. I’ve certainly become more attractive since I’ve lost weight.
I’m glad to have found a new skill in strawberry picking. I can’t believe I forgot to buy some and take them home!
